HISTORY OF REXNORD TECHNICAL SERVICES (RTS^SM)

RTS is a wholly owned unit of Rexnord Industries, LLC, with offices and laboratories in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.   This laboratory functioned for more than 20 years as the Corporate Research and Innovation (R&I) Group of Rexnord Inc., a diverse industrial conglomerate.

For more than 20 years, Rexnord Technical Service's (RTS) group of highly trained technical specialists has given Rexnord the scientific and engineering expertise required to keep Rexnord's products at the leading edge.   RTS has a long history of high quality, successful research and development efforts; combined with proven capabilities in test system design, field service and problem resolution.

RTS provides technical expertise over a wide range of disciplines covering the fields of mechanical engineering, chemistry, metallurgy and material sciences with specific emphasis on new product development, product test and evaluation, and forensic engineering analysis.   Development and application of special instruments, equipment and facilities, both for research and industrial use, have long been a standing area of demonstrated accomplishment.

• June of 1987, RTS was sold to Radian Corporation and transformed into an independent engineering services firm.


• April of 1990, as the result of a second sale it again became part of Rexnord Industries, Inc., but this time as an independent test facility.


• In 1993, Rexnord Corp. was purchased by BTR plc, a British conglomerate, with operations world-wide.


• 1996, by Siebe, which subsequently merged and formed Invensys.


• November of 2002 Rexnord Corp. was then purchased by The Carlyle Group.


• In 2005 Rexnord Corporation acquired Falk Corporation from Hamilton Sundstrand.


• In July, 2006 The Carlyle Group completed a sale of Rexnord Industries to Apollo Management.


• December of 2006 Rexnord Corporation converted into a limited liability company, which effectively changed the name to Rexnord Industries, LLC.

RTS operates as an independent laboratory with A2LA accreditation, offering outside clients a wide range of technical services and the confidential relationship that they expect.

RTS has become a recognized specialist in developing and performing complex design and testing programs for the aerospace industry.   In particular, RTS has been doing programmable load-oscillation spectrum testing for aircraft control system bearings since 1975.   The test spectra, in terms of load oscillation angle and cyclic rate, are typically the conditions encountered by a particular bearing during an aircraft flight.

Dynamic and static tests are performed to determine wear and durability under ambient and hot, cold, wet, or dusty conditions.   RTS has performed projects for several Fortune 500 companies that require the use of RPC (Remote Parameter Control).

Complex load-motion spectra are being performed and controlled on a wide range of components.   The necessary test equipment, to do these tests, has been custom designed and built, or assembled in-house.
